Bribery allegation: Attingal SI (Traffic) transferred

Attingal: Following bribery allegations from none other than the Municipal Chairman, Adv. C.J. Rajesh Kumar, Attingal SI (Traffic) of Police, N. Mohanan, has been transferred. The municipal chairman alleged yesterday that the SI had received bribes of Rs. 5000/- from two merchants in the town (see yesterday’s story). Rural SP M. Sugathan has started an enquiry into the matter. Traffic SI of Mangalapuram, M. Sugathan, has been given the additional charge of Attingal.

Meanwhile, the traffic reforms in Attingal has run into further trouble with Congress (I) block president P. Unnikrishnan and Congress activist G. Sreekandan Nair filing a law suit against the Chief Secretary, Rural SP, National Highway Executive Engineer and the District Collector regarding the “thoughtless” traffic reforms in Attingal. The political allegations are also flying thick and fast (thicker and faster than the new generation cars flying through the one-way of National Highway), making it hard to understand who supports the new traffic arrangement and who does not.
