Traffic reforms in Attingal: Transferred SI alleges conspiracy

Attingal: The controversy surrounding the new traffic arrangement refuses to die down, as fresh accusations and findings provide new twists to the whole story. Yesterday, the former Traffic SI of Police, I. Mohanan yesterday revealed to press persons that he was a victim of a controversy. He refuted bribery allegations against him and says Municipal Chairman made him a scapegoat to turn people’s attention from the actual controversy. He also alleges that some shop owners in the town also had in the bribery allegations against him.

However, many shop owners and a large number of their associates told this blogger that the SI was indeed a shamelessly corrupt official. A majority of the shopkeepers usually want a ‘small concession’ in traffic regulations, for example allowing a heavy vehicle to park in front of their shop which is no parking zone to unload goods. They say that the SI used to extract a heavy price for the ‘small concession’.
