Attingal witnessed another day of head-spinning rush in its count down to Onam. Streets were again full and so were the textile and jewelry shops. But the traffic situation was improved beyond recognition. The credit must go to the police who actively controlled the traffic at notorious bottlenecks such as the Private Bus stand and Kizhakke Naalumukku. Also the temporary traffic arrangement of making National Highway (towards Trivandrum only) and Palace Road (towards Kollam only) one way has worked wonders.
Street vendors were seen doing brisk business despite the tough bargaining. Leading textile shops like Swayamwara Silks appeared like Maveli Stores. Today was the last working day of government institutions and private educational institutions. There were Attha Pookkalams at the compounds of many institutions.
The mock-up of a guerilla and Kalabhavan Mani (which is said to have been displayed in a leading textile shop at Aluva, Seemas, during the last Onam) in front of Manjali Fashion Jewelry attracted a large crowd today also. Another electrically controlled mock-up of a human was displayed at the compound of Rajakumari Silks, opposite to Manjali Fashion Jewelry.
