Traffic reforms in Attingal to continue

Attingal: It has been decided at a high-level meeting of officials and representatives of various social spheres to go ahead with the newly implemented traffic reforms here. There were two deaths from accidents within a week after the new traffic arrangement. However, the meeting, chaired by Superintendent of Police (Rural) M. Sugathan, concluded that the accidents are not entirely the result of the traffic changes. Police officials pointed out that the new system was implemented after sufficient planning from September 1, and now there is no need to scrap the system that is actually working as expected in reducing the traffic congestion in the town. A demand for improving the state of Palace Road was also raised in the meeting. The police said new sign boards would be erected to create awareness among people, and new parking slots would be provided. Also speed regulation would be strictly enforced. Apart from the police personnel, officials from other government departments and representatives of various political and social organisations also participated in the meeting.
