Attingal turns red

Attingal: CPM organized a massive rally yesterday to mark the culmination of the intra-party local area meeting and election. Home minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan was the chief guest of the function. The rally started at around 5’o clock in the evening from Kacheri Junction. People gathered in the Police Station road, as if by obtaining special permission from the home minister. When the rally was about to begin, one police jeep steamed in on its way to police station. But seeing the crowd of red volunteers, to the amusement of the onlookers, the driver sheepishly parked the jeep on the side of the road, allowing the rally to pass. Hundreds of volunteers marched to Mamam ground holding red flags and shouting revolutionary slogans through the National Highway, bringing the usually impatient traffic to a standstill. The rally reached Mamam ground around 6’o clock. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan spoke in his usual rhetoric urging the people to join hands with his party to fight against corruption and communalism.
