Heavy Rain Continues in Attingal

The rain that has started since the UPA government succeeded in passing the confidence motion in Indian parliament still continues come down heavily in and around Attingal. Usually rain stops when the meteorological department officially declares the start of the rainy season. But this time rain has been kind to the department. The incessant rain for the past one week has created muddy streams in many roads. The worst sufferers are the newly laid roads that are created by filling up the existing canals near the paddy fields with soil. Such roads are quite common these days in almost every village in Kerala. Rain has let loose water on such roads with great ferocity as if to seek vengeance on its loss of natural passage. The water level of the Vamanapuram River has been rising each day, trying hard in its attempt to kiss the Poovanpara bridge.

There was a meeting organized by Congress (I) in the evening at Kacheri Junction. The chief speaker was Mr. P.C. George, a prominent Congress leader in the state. May be because of the wet atmosphere, the supposedly fiery speech evoked a cold response from the few onlookers that can be passed as a crowd. Understandably, Mr. P.C. George was particularly harsh on the Left parties and presented his party’s version on the recent developments in national politics. The gathered clouds decided to have some temporary rest as the night began to encroach into the skies.
